Today, neurodevelopmental disorders include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Autism spectrum disorder<\/strong> (ASD) and <strong>communication disorder<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Attention deficit disorder<\/strong> (ADHD \u2013 Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Language acquisition disorders<\/strong> regarding comprehension and\/or expression (dysphasia)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Developmental coordination disorder<\/strong> with difficulties in acquiring and performing motor skills (dyspraxia) possibly with a writing disorder (dysgraphia)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Specific learning disorders including difficulties with reading<\/strong> (dyslexia), <strong>writing (dysgraphia), or mathematics<\/strong> (dyscalculia)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Intellectual disabilities<\/strong> involving limitations in cognitive functioning and adaptive behaviors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tic disorders<\/strong> and <strong>Tourette's syndrome<\/strong><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-x-large-font-size\"><strong>How to get a diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorder?<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">When discussing neurodevelopmental disorders, we consider <strong>4 associated criteria<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The child has <strong>a delay<\/strong> or <strong>a deficit<\/strong> in one or more developmental areas, such as language, motor skills, or social skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This disorder has <strong>a significant impact on their adaptation in various contexts<\/strong>, whether in the family, at school or with friends<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The difficulties <strong>appeared early<\/strong> in childhood, with the first signs <strong>visible before the end of preschool<\/strong>, <strong>evolving throughout adolescence <\/strong>and potentially <strong>persisting into adulthood<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No medical conditions<\/strong>, especially neurological conditions (such as epilepsy), sensory deficits (such as deafness), or an insufficiently stimulating environment can explain these difficulties<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">NDDs exhibit <strong>highly variable degrees of severity<\/strong> and are <strong>frequently associated with each other<\/strong>, thus constituting <strong>a multiple neurodevelopmental disorder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Only <strong>a doctor<\/strong>, most often <strong>a pediatric neurologist<\/strong> or <strong>child psychiatrist<\/strong>, can make a diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorder (NDD).
